Please join IFAW and our giant inflatable seal on a nationwide journey to celebrate the Olympic torch relay. "Sparky" will be welcoming the torch at major cities across Canada to raise awareness of Canada's commercial seal hunt.
This is a great opportunity to remind the world that the majority of Canadians are opposed to the inhumane and unnecessary commercial seal hunt.
We will post event information on our website so stay tuned.
These events will NOT disrupt the Olympic torch relay, and are not being held to protest the Olympic games.
Abused Zimbabwe Elephants Begin New Life
The nine wild elephants rescued from cruel safari training at a Zimbabwe ranch have been successfully relocated to their new home in Hwange National Park. Tracking shows the elephants have stayed together as a group as they begin their new life in a protected reserve free from abuse and neglect.

3,172 Animals Saved in Philippines
An average of 200 animals a day were fed or treated by IFAW's Water Rescue Team during its recent typhoon rescue efforts in the Philippines. Over the course of sixteen days on the ground, IFAW’s team reached over 11 flooded communities containing 15 villages to help more than 3000 animals by feeding, treating and rescuing those in most need.
Sadly, yet another typhoon has struck the Philippines. IFAW is in direct contact with our partners at the Philippines Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) to help them care for more suffering animals with a financial grant.
Help Save the Death Row Dogs of Cozumel, Mexico
Cozumel’s street dogs suffer terribly from flea and tick infestations, mange, hunger, and eye infections. IFAW is working with a local animal welfare group on a massive spay and neuter campaign, a program to educate the public on proper pet care, and we’re working to find loving homes for lonely dogs.

IFAW launches new whale watching report at the IWC
IFAW's new report, Whale Watching Worldwide provides a country-by-country
economic analysis of the global whale watching industry, revealing that whale
watching in the last year generated US$2.1 billion.
This report launches as more than 80 countries debate the future of
whaling and whale conservation at the 61st annual meeting of the International
Whaling Commission (IWC) in Madeira, Portugal.
